MATSUDA

The distinctly Japanese method of combining handcrafted techniques and innovative technology guides the Matsuda philosophy of experimentation. Among the first designers to meld architecture with fashion, Mitsuhiro Masuda’s ready-to-wear and eyewear creations cemented his reputation 50 years ago as an innovator and creator of art-as-fashion. Constructed from the finest metals—titanium, stainless steel, sterling silver, and 18k solid gold—each distinctive frame requires two years and up to 250 steps of craftsmanship until it is ready to be worn.

“They say, ‘Old World Technique, New World Expression.’ I say, ‘Vintage meets Steampunk, meets Terminator’! Created by a couture Japanese fashion designer, these frames are intricately detailed works of art blending traditional craftsmanship with thoughtful execution. Detail, Detail, Detail, wait…did you hear me?…Detail!”
